News Letter from your Library Director

Hello Patrons!  Happy Holidays!                                                                Nov-Dec 2017

It’s been over two weeks since I became your Library Director.  Some already know me, as I had been working at the library since September and supervised the Kid’s Craft Corner during that time.  Just a bit about myself.  I came to the North Country from NYC 12 years ago, and live at the base of Crane Mountain in Thurman (just 11 miles away).  I taught at Suny/ACC for five years and was elected Thurman Town Justice back in 2008 serving for 4 years.  I have worked at the Johnsburg Library, Diamond Point Library and The Caldwell-Lake George Library.  Enough about me! Oh btw, Sharon Berg is our library clerk and she is wonderful.  She is usually here Mondays and when she is substituting for me.

I hope to post/print this News letter monthly to keep you informed of the “happenings” at the Library.  I will inform you of new arrivals, books, DVD’s etc. and programs.

FYI- The library is now collecting fines for overdue items and fees for lost items.  So please return items on time and put them in a safe place while they are in your possession.

Here are just a few of the new arrivals:

The Midnight Line by Lee Childs

J Fiction

You Decide How to Survive!  (we have 4 of the titles from this series)

“12 Story Library” series including: 12 Urban Legends, 12 Unsolved Mysteries and more.

War for the Planet of the Apes

Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2

Spider-Man Homecoming

Berlin Station: Season one (We are the only library that has this!)

Wonder Woman

A more comprehensive list will be forthcoming in future News Letters.

OK- Now I want to hear from you.  What are your interests?  Are there books or DVD’s that you want? That you highly recommend?  Let me know.  Remember, if we don’t have it some other library probably will and we’ll get it for you.

We will have our Official Tree Lighting and refreshments and reading of “A Visit from St. Nicolas” on Mon. Dec 11th starting around 6:00 or so.  There is still time to come by M-Thur from 4-5PM to make a felt ornament!

We (“we” meaning Sharon, with my input) have made Bookmarks with our hours please take one!

Finally some housekeeping:  We follow “The Standard Rules of Patron Behavior”. (copy of our rules are on display near the water cooler.)

We try our best to use “Library Voices” so as not to disturb other patrons.

Please come by often and enjoy your library and remember the staff is here to assist you.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
